They certainly didn't help their case by going on a huge spending spree right after the murders.
I think people felt that their father was abusive, but that the mother was an innocent victim. Both brothers were considered spoiled and overprivileged, and the murders were considered primarily motivated by money. I still think that their sentence was fair. They were adults, with the education and resources to completely move out from their parent's influence. Regardless of past abuse, you don't get to mow your parents down in cold blood. |
Except we don’t know that happened. |
OMG in their penis? I did not understand that in the new series. I thought it was in the backside. Holy sh##. |
| I was in college so probably didn’t have time to follow all the TV coverage (before 24-7 news cycle you really had to be watching news at a specific time or you just kind of didn’t see it!). But I don’t remember there being any coverage about sexual abuse. The coverage I remember is that they were rich, killed their parents, spent a bunch of money, then claimed their dad was abusive. I think part of it was that they seemed old enough to just leave if their dad was awful. So it seemed like killing him was for the money, not self defense or anything like that. I haven’t watched the show — is there a reason that they just didn’t leave and built their own lives, or turn him into the cops? Did they think they were protecting others by killing him? |
Assuming they’d have been cut off financially if they left and built their own lives. |
