Richmond, VA. Christmas to New Year’s

https://virginiahistory.org/exhibitions/traveling-bricks -- This is a great museum and that exhibit may appeal to adults and kids. Also has a small kids room so a parent can stay with little kids in there, while the other parent looks at the museum, and the museum is small enough to cater to their attention span. The kids' area has a dentist kit, pretend food truck, post office to sort VA postcards, etc.

Children's Museum of Richmond -- my kids love this one.

Just walking Broad Street, Grace St., etc.

Driving Broad St from West of the city coming into town.

Driving Cary Street Road. So beautiful.

Science Museum of Virginia -- can't convince my kids to go there but I've been in the past and it's cool.

Capitol building tour -- it's been a while, but I loved this.

Jefferson Hotel -- they have teas and brunches.

Maggie L Walker National Historic Site -- if you have kids in VA, I believe they will have learned about her.

Shockoe Bottom area is cool.

Plenty of Civil War stuff around if you're into that kind of thing.

Spending an entire week walking city streets and visiting museums is not for everyone. And some of these things are not in the nicest areas, so OP should be aware.

Do not eat at The Tobacco Company. The food is not good and it’s a tourist trap.

Those areas are absolutely fine and we walk them all the time but the Science Museum and Children's museum won't have any appeal for OP. The Valentine Historic Museum is nice but I think you could do all of the various things people listed in 2-3 days. The museums are all small
