Can’t find generic Adderall anywhere - anyone else found it?

I feel like every few months I find myself here posting complaints about shortages. Now I’m back because ExpressScripts hasn’t filled DD’s Vyvanse even though their records show she is out and it’s been 2 weeks. I dread calling them again. I suspect they will tell me they’re out. Our doctor moved to Baltimore so it’s a huge inconvenience to drive to Baltimore to get a prescription and then drive from one pharmacy to the next. DD will never be able to handle this task independently because she lacks the EF skills. The system is so broken.

Thanks, she says they no longer do this. Something to do with the fact that the prescriptions have to get approved by a 3rd party because they are controlled substances.

Where are you? We’re in Maryland and I absolutely do this for DD’s Vyvanse. Maybe your provider just doesn’t want the hassle of dealing with a paper prescription?

My provider said it’s their practice’s policy. We are in Maryland. I do know the first time she called it into CVS I had to wait like 3-5 days for some sort of third party processing that CVS used to verify the prescription and the benefits because it was a controlled substance. It wouldn’t even go into their system to fill until this approval went through - not sure if it was the pharmacy benefit manager or what.

We aren’t Costco members currently but if they are a good place for prescriptions I am wondering if we should join. I tried to call CVS and the pharmacist who I talked to today told me he’s not even supposed to tell me over the phone they don’t have it. But he did say they have the brand name, which costs 6x as much. I find this crazy - there are studies showing how people with ADHD are more sensitive to medication differences, fillers, dyes, etc. so you’d think ensuring patients getting treated for it have access to a consistent medication would be a priority. It’s weird feeling like I’m a drug seeking criminal trying to get this filled when I could drive a few miles into DC and easily purchase drugs legally and over the counter with far less effort. This whole exercise makes me wonder if we should stop the stimulants and try another class or drugs that are more readily available. I can’t deal with this hassle each month.

We are fortunate to have had no issues whatsoever with Kaiser.
