I’ve been researching this same topic and our answer might be an old iPhone.

I found a site (which I can’t find now) that recommended calling the non-emergency line and telling them you’re going to test 911 on an old phone to make sure it works, and they’ll know your test call isn’t an emergency.

We have a landline through Cox.

Your internet company probably offers a home phone option. It functions th same as an old copper wire landlines, but runs over the internet cables. Or something. We made DS practice calling us on it.

Verizon still offers telephone land lines!. Internet is not required. That is what we have.

Verizon with triple play phone is free. I dont pay for my home phone. So why not have one.

We have a Pinwheel cell phone. You can decide what apps to add, but we like that it can also text parents and other select adults.
