FYI Fordham requires FAFSA for merit aid.

Most schools won’t consider you for financial aid later if you didn’t submit a FAFSA in the beginning. Not at all sure why that would be, but have heard it from multiple reliable sources.

Some schools require the FAFSA in order to be considered for merit aid. Our school counselor said always, always fill it out.

This isn’t accurate, it’s a waste of time for full pay families.

People say this, I don’t think this is true, or at least, nobody has been able to name a specific school that requires it for merit. Didn’t fill it out and was offered lots of merit at many schools.

It's a confusing article. The first 2 schools are BU and Duke which say you need to fill out FAFSA to be considered for merit scholarships.

Then when you look at the list that doesn't require FAFSA, the first two schools are, you guessed it, BU and Duke.

All these schools are ones that offer very few Merit scholarships and are 99% need-based. There are only like 5-6 schools in total.

BU surprised us big time. We didn't complete the NPC, so I can't compare, but it was way more than we expected.
Even better, that same amount will last for all four years.

Our counselor also said always fill it out for the 2 reasons posted above.
