Denying educational evaluation at MCPS

OP - what information would you be seeking to get out of the evaluation? It's hard to give you advice without knowing what you are specifically looking for. These are some reasons that a 3-year re-eval would include a full or partial assessment battery:

- team is considering reducing services or making a change of placement
- Team wants to add on services such as speech, OT, PT, etc.
- Team wants to change the disability area or add on another one
- There is a problem not currently being addressed by the IEP and the team needs more data (i.e., assessments) to figure out what the problem is and how to remedy it
- The last evaluation was done in a different school system

I don’t see them as trying to pull one over you. There are limited resources. If your child does not need updated information, why do it?

This was our path, too. Autism diag in 5th, then full retesting in 11th for college. Basic diags didn't change.
