Who? Wendy or Allyson?

It is not a good look to our family for Allyson or Sidwell that it’s admission folks bail when they are fairly young to start their own consulting biz. We had a bizarre interview with her, had a VERY strange Sidwell admission experience (cannot say more without giving away identity), and I cannot imagine this happening at the school we are currently with. I get the vibe that community at Sidwell isn’t exactly what we are looking for — more of an every man for themselves.

This makes zero sense. What was your experience with Allyson and the Sidwell admissions process?

Well, Allyson, I would tell you but, as I said, this forum is anonymous so I don’t have to .

I’m not Allyson, but you should be ashamed of yourself for making baseless claims about someone while hiding behind anonymity. Clearly, your child was rejected by Sidwell and now you’re trying to blame Allyson. So bitter!

How does a family with a federal salary compete with kids that have this kind of advantage? This is madness

They don’t. What lead you to believe otherwise? Welcome to the United States of America—the land of opportunity where everything can be purchased.

If she personally knows them, then they know she’s operating a pay for play operation and I can’t imagine they approve of her vouch-for-check scheme.

We used a competitor two admissions cycles ago and it was $5k. We ended up at Big3 HS. This is obscene, in my opinion, but to each his or her own.

Anonymous wrote:Not familiar with the consultants but if headache disorder means she’s missing a lot of school or frequently not able to complete assignments, you may want to explore a place like Fusion until you are able to find a treatment that works and she can mostly attend school and complete work on time. Best wishes, OP.

Fusion might be a great choice. It starts in 6th, so you wouldn't be able to repeat 5th, but after a 6th grade at fusion you could decide to repeat 6th at a mainstream school if you thought appropriate. Bonus is that 6th is more often an entry year and if you get the headaches under control, a different set of schools might be appropriate.

OP - If there's ever a time where the right "fit" (an overused word on this forum) should be paramount for you daughter, this would be it. You don't need a consultant with pull at a particular school; you need somebody who is knowledgeable and direct about what schools might be good options based on the requirements/priorities you tell them. It may be one or both of these individuals, but if I were you, I would ask them specifically about their experience advising families with kids in similar situations.
