Why did you move to DC, MD or VA?

Same. Even down to the 5 states.

Graduated in 2002, it was a recession. (ha, we didn't know from big recessions then but we didn't' know what 08 would bring) My friend and I figured DC was a good place to be in a recession, so we got an apartment and found jobs. She's long gone back home, I've been here ever since.

We moved to Bethesda (twice!) for the work / commute.

Another native here! Born at the old Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park.

believe it or not, it was cheaper than the Bay Area, for housing at least.

To find a job. I grew up in the rust belt and had three factories close on me in four years during the 90s.

As Bruce Springsteen sang: Foreman says, These jobs are going, boys And they ain't coming back.

Gave up on a dream of building stuff and found myself at a desk in a windowless office in Fairfax.

DH works in Rockville. Me in DC. We live in Rockville so one of us could be very close for the kids...and we love Rockville.

There are US Attorneys offices all over the place! Not sure which division of DOJ you're in. Mine was specialized so I'm with a firm now but I have lots of friends from DOJ who didn't care about the specialty and went to USAOs.
