IP lawyer. Several of my PhD classmates are partners now. They started working as technical specialists at law firms and the company paid for them to go to law school.

Have 2 kids who majored in bio. One in med school the other became a pharmacist

My brother majored in something biology-adjacent but actually a lot more rigorous at a T20 grind school. He went on to get MS and PhD and post-doc fellowship and will probably stay in academia. He makes very little money and keeps at it because he is passionate about it and has been since like age 10.

He married someone who makes tons of money and he is the default parent for their 2 kids. If he hadn’t done so, he would be poor.

So I guess it’s fine if your DD either doesn’t mind living a very modest life or pairs up with someone who brings in a lot more financial resources.

I majored in biology and did not get a PhD. I work in a government lab making just under $100k.
