What is your IB? I would probably switch there.

This is good advice. the DCPS curriculum even at Title 1 schools is solid. I sent both my kids through one and the oldest is doing very well at a more competitive middle.

CMI was a great school about 10 years or so ago when it first started. Lots of family involvement and the then Principal was very invested (as her kid went there). I will agree with one of the prior posters, I didn't realize how far behind my kids were until we left to go to another school

Parent of Montessori students. Montessori is terrific for the younger kids. Anything beyond 2nd is a mistake. CHML is probably the worst montessori school in the district. Go visit and observe. You’ll be looking at your inbound in a different light.

I'd love to know more about why you don't think Montessori beyond 2nd grade is a good idea. We looked at a Montessori school for DC, but decided it wasn't the right fit. Ended up in regular old public school, and doing very well. Lots of my neighbors send their kids to a public Montessori school and I have to say, I haven't been particularly impressed, both by where the kids are academically and behaviorally. Although it's a bit harder to tease out which behaviors are the result of Montessori vs. there would be issues no matter what school they go to.

Former CHML parent here, Montessori past 2nd is fine. Its just not fine at CHML. PS-K are great there but after that not so much.
