Are jeans comfortable? Can they be comfortable?

I love jeans. I buy nice ones that fit and they are so comfy.

I loathe dresses and skirts. They are not comfortBle

I am short waisted and high rise jeans (anything over 10”) is very uncomfortable for me. If you have a rounded belly or an apron belly, I imagine any structured pant is uncomfortable when seated.
I don’t buy fancy jeans. Most of my jeans are from Gap, J Crew, or Madewell.

+1, you have to fit your body. I have the opposite body from PP (I have a long waist) and high waist jeans are very comfy for me but mid- or (horrors) low rise are uncomfy. A little bit of stretch in the fabric is good too.

Also, wear real underpants that cover your skin where the jeans rub. I don't understand people who wear skimpy underwear with jeans, it's so uncomfortable.

Jeggings are basically yoga pants and often one size, fits all. For jeans, the rise and style can increase comfort.

I have to wear a belt to keep them from sliding down and then cutting into my hips when I sit.

No, I have never found a pair of jeans to feel comfortable, even with stretch fabric, even after multiple washes, even if slightly larger size. Yes, I think I have sensory issues. I own a few pairs of jeans and put them on to go out, and then change right out of them when I get back home.

Jeans used to be made of cotton and were thus pretty breathable and comfy. Then they added a bit of spandex, which made them even comfier. Then they kept adding more and more spandex and then synthetics and now most are 40-60 blends with cotton on the lower side, and I can’t stand them. I bought two pairs of pricey jeans at this summer’s Nordstrom sale and had to return them because they felt so plasticky against my skin.

Quality natural materials and correct sizing make jeans comfortable, but if either is missing they can feel constricting.

I wear jeans all the time and find them comfortable. But I'll admit that I often unbutton them if I'm sitting for a long time (at home or in the car). So maybe they aren't quite as comfortable as I think.

I am much more comfortable in my jeans now that my kind and wise teenage DD convinced me to ignore size numbers and shop by fit. My favorites are a pair of oversized cargo style jeans that I belt in the morning and then take the belt off as the day goes on and my midsection expands. So many pockets to love, too!

Most of my jeans are comfortable. The fit and cut matter, and you’ll have to experiment to find out what works for you. The most comfortable jeans for me have been well-worn, frequently washed (using liquid Downy fabric softener) and ironed all-cotton jeans. The more I wear them, the more comfortable they get. Premium Levi’s would be an example of these. The next most comfortable would probably be jeans made from lighter, thinner denim, with a small amount of spandex. My Democracy jeans would be an example. I have an extremely comfortable pair of “leggings” by NYDJ — that are comfortable enough for me to wear on a cross country flight. The fabric is very stretchy , and the seams don’t irritate my skin even sitting for hours.

My only complaint is that sometimes the metal from the top button irritates my skin, so when I wear a top that’s not tucked in, I usually also wear a tank top that’s tucked in too so that the back of the button doesn’t touch my skin.
