Can I asked for accelerated academics in a private school?

My son was very advanced in reading and writing at that age. For the most part, the best thing is to just encourage him to read more advanced books for pleasure. He’ll figure out how to apply the critical thinking skills he develops in school to other things he reads.

His first private didn’t make any effort. His second private (starting in 6th grade) was more creative. I remember one instance where a science teacher suggested he read a historical novel about the scientists involved in something they were studying and then talking to him about it. Some other teachers did things like this as well but efforts to formalize it did not work well so I would not push it. Be glad he’s advanced and encourage him to read … that’s more important than the rest .

You can ask, but be prepared for them to do a bit of token differentiation and that's it.

A public is more likely to offer subject acceleration or even whole grade acceleration.
