Computer rec for middle schooler

Anonymous
My MS DC had to have a computer and wasn't allowed a Chromebook because DC needed Teams and Office 365. We are also a Mac family. We got DC a cheap Acer that met the minimum specs (similar to what PP suggested). It's so far been terrible I'm wishing we got a refurbished Mac. Windows 11 requiring cloud sign-in is a nightmare.

We bought our daughter a low end Mac for middle school. She hasn't had a problem using any of the software.

" windows and office directly on the device so he can access the better features of the real software. "

will provide absolutely 0 value for school (and 99% of work). This is 2006 thinking.

NP it’s better to get something that can run windows if they want to game and code

OP I bought a mid priced acer laptop from Costco. Working well so far

You don't need Windows for coding outside of extremely niche professional scenarios.

The major systems work cross platform or on web.

Windows + Middle School = viruses and malware and cryptominer hacks.

Interesting. Then I wonder what our school's excuse is for not allowing it? I admit I just kind of assumed.
