How many friends / family members do you text with on an average day?

Typically 2 family members, 1 friend. Coworkers 3 times a week when we are working (we're teachers). Over the summer when we're not on contract we unplug.

I tend to talk on the phone or a voice message app with my family/friends, so maybe 1-2 family member texts and 0-1 with friends.

I text a lot more with acquaintances, and there’s usually a specific purpose — neighbors, moms of my kids’ friends, etc.

Today I have texted with 6 family members, seven friends and 2 colleagues. This seems average to me

Just curious what the range is.

If you have that many friends, then you have no good friends.

Wow. You are so busy.

Multiple times to my sons and DH. Multiple times to friends. Few IMs to colleagues.

0.5?
I average less than one conversation a day by text or phone or email. I can't imagine being part of a desultory group chat that had no beginning or end... that would make me feel very uncomfortable. I like to say hello, how are you today, chat about something, then bye, have a great day.

Do you feel isolated or does this work for you?

Text is only one form of communication. You can engage with people all day long and never text.

Text only? Via text - group chat with girlfriends; group chat with siblings; DH; 1 friend and kids' trainer. So 5 separate text boxes.

But I also IG frequently with friends/siblings so have a set of those back and forth.

I've found that texting goes in waves so it's hard to estimate an average. Like today I texted with two friend groups (some overlap between groups but about 7 people total) plus my husband and another friend via 1:1 text (not from either of the text groups) as well as two mom friends (two separate 1:1 chats). Oh and a neighbor regarding housesitting. That's super busy for me! But that's because school just started so more texting with fellow parents and sharing stories of first week stuff with friends. Also it's a long weekend coming up so there is planning around get togethers and travel.

It would not be unusual for me to text literally no one during the course of a day sometimes. I almost always talk to my DH via phone but even then there are days we both work from home so maybe not even that.

It just comes and goes. I bet you next week will be super quiet actually.
