NP. Worked for me in 2021. I suspect it doesn’t work for highly in-demand models, but when they have inventory on the lot that they want to get rid of, it’s a good tactic. Saves them time, too, right? Like, if I am trying to move inventory, why wouldn’t I want to do a deal by email with a willing buyer? Time is money. |

Email dealerships, say exactly what you want, and ask for a complete "number to put on the check" price. For not wasting their time, they'll give you a "get it out the door" price.
Forward the best offer to the 2nd best offer place, and ask if they want to beat it. Then heck that the best price is reasonable, and buy it. Confirm that you can bring a prewritten check with that amount, and go in. If they don't take your check, walk out. |
Doesn't matter. They can give a high price if the car is in demand. Market price is whatever the best offer is. |
