Why do I have a hard time believing this? Could it be because the school didn't appreciably change size after the admissions change? Or that the admissions change happened years ago and there has been plenty of time to adjust since then?

Popular clubs get filled. Add 400 more students - 100 per grade- and you have more demand but not supply. There are not enough classrooms or teachers to sponsor new clubs. They are limited in size due to fire department limits in a room.

+1
I’m a fan of the new admissions process generally but I would have added 50 kids a grade not 100. It’s a big additional change in size.

Reasonable minds can disagree about a lot of things but did you really not see that race was a primary driving factor during the process of changing admissions?

Sorry, this one made me laugh. We are now complaining about 8th period club access and how "low acheiving kids" are ruining that too? Nice.

For what it's worth, I have never heard about 8th period dissatisfaction from my kid. From what I've been told, everyone loves 8th period and there are more clubs to choose from than one actually has time for. And many of them use it for bonus study time anyway.

Also, is it the worst thing if your kid gets told, "no, that club is full today, try something else?"

Agree. Believe it or not, they won't get their "dream job" at 21 either. Often times people adopt new passions through a turn in the road. Kids have so many options these days. Our TJ kids truly have the world at their fingertips. Stop complaining and smell the roses.

Some of them are full until october.

Fortunately, freshman football is open to all and it keeps them physically active.

I met my wife at a high school club.
We could be ruining marriages before the bride and groom even meet. Their kids were probably going to develop portable fusion generators heralding an age of plenty where noone has to work unless they want to and AI robots tend to our every need. And none of that happen because an 8th period club was full for the entire month of September.
