Help!!! Checking account without overdraft??? I'm drowning in fees

We have a MM account attached to checking and there are no fees -- they just take out of MM. Every major bank has an account like this.

Do they limit how much they'll take out of MM to cover a checking overdraft? My bank couldn't do that, and I was concerned that a fraudulent charge to my checking could drain the larger amount in my savings. That's why I set up an overdraft credit line with a limit.
