VRSC 3500 + travel expenses
NVA 3000 + team fees & travel exp
TSJFC 3000 + travel expenses

yeah that's not what i'm paying

For education what club and what are the actual fees?

not pp but these are retail prices. top players are often recruited a reduced price point.

No they are not in ECNL clubs.

I know some that don’t pay a dime…just sayin.

This 100% happens

If it happens, I'd think it'd be extremely rare. Bottom line is most NOVA parents don't blink over $3000-$4000.

You vastly underestimate how motivated coaches are to attract players who will help them win games. It’s what keeps them employed.

But coaches also need to get paid, which is what club dues go towards. Giving discounts based on quality of play is also just asking for dissension.

Not saying it doesn’t happen but it is all super shady at best and illegal at worst. These coaches should be called out and exposed.

Parents are incentivized not to dislose any discount. Coach pay and a number of discounted or free player slots are factored in when club fees are calculated. I don’t know what else to tell you.

This thread devolved into players getting discounts. I'm more interested in if the advertised rates are actually what the average person pays. Are there hidden fees?

If you are the next coming of Mallory Swanson, you probably don’t pay a thing, or even get some benefits above cost. That means every other player’s cost goes up marginally. If the club’s cost accounting structure is managed properly the worst players on a roster would potentially be paying the most. I suspect that roster size plays an oversized role in ensuring all costs are covered. I wonder how carefully club administrators plan this out.

Except that is not the way it works -- at least ont he girls side. I would never say never but most clubs will not give a discount for anyone except for financial reasons. It may happen outside the top clubs for other reasons but not on the top teams (ECNL, GA). Family issues, money, divorce, death -- sure but not becasue you are the next National Team Player.

Shady is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. No law are being broken. Just follow the incentives.

I won’t claim to know how every clubs work, but the “top” club I have knowledge of comps fees for a handful of players. I know at least a few others do as well. It is not solely predicated on the kid being so damn good that they don’t have to pay. It may be that, but ultimately it is about attracting or keeping a player/family in the club.

I mean the "hidden" fees are mostly all the travel which can vary greatly depending on amount of hotel stays/flights. Those can easily dwarf the team/club fees.

Is this the reason why a salesman can be now a coach making 6 figures?
