which middle schools have phone bans?

I think it may be easier to ask who does allow phones. I don't know any schools that do.

I have a rising 5th grader and will soon be looking at schools for next year and given my older child's experience of middle school i would LOVE to have a phone-free middle school this time around.

Edmund Burke requires them to be turned into the division head's office each morning.

They’re in a lock box and have been for years. Funny how other schools are just now catching up

WES says it has a cell phone ban, and they also say that students aren't allowed to have Apple watches. But there are no consequences if a student uses a cell phone (generally done by using it into the bathroom or some other quiet spot) -- it's just a stern look. And a lot of students wear Apple watches, which means they can text friends and family during the school day. Most teachers are unwilling to enforce the bans, and the few teachers who try to enforce the ban get zero backing from admin.

I have two kids at WES, one with a phone and one with a watch. The above has not been our experience at all. They even made the kids turn in their phones before going into the middle school dance.

Just now? This isn't new at most schools.

But our personal experience - Congressional and SSSAS do.

Are you sure SSSAS is strict about it? When my dd (at a different private) turns her phone on at the end of the day, she always has tons of messages from Saints girls on her club sports team

Funny how no one ever follows anything Edmund Burke does or even know it exists.

My DD's BFF goes to WES and she texts and snapchats my daughter all day. When we get in the car, my DD will turn on her phone and it's a stream of messages from this friend through out the day. So, yeah, WES does not enforce it's 'policy' or whatever the school calls it.

My daughter (upper school) isn’t allowed to use her phone, but has access to her laptop all day. So she texts me all day and clearly has access to everything she wants…

I was going to say that I have WES babysitters that will answer my texts during the day when I see if they can babysit so their ban must not be that strict.

The Heights (boys) and Oakcrest (girls) ban cell phones for middle school students.
