Someone at ECNL must have just noticed many MLS Next players play for other International youth teams.

So they trying to keep up with the Jones's

It's been happening across all leagues for a while now. I think it's to expand the concept beyond the Central American countries and not necessarily what you think you thought was isolated to a league. Simple minded folks like you are the causes for USA soccer's talent issue, we look in one place thinking we have a method to funnel talent into a central location. We don't have a development program that forces top talent to the top of a pyramid, we in fact have 2-4 pyramids.

So you think USA soccer will get better by ECNL funneling talent to other national teams?

I think they are trying to use their platform to get exposure for their players to be considered for other countries. Those same players would love to play to USA, but they only look at ENCL for Girls and MLS Academies for Boys. They can and should look beyond those two leagues, but if I'm an player that has been overlooked by US Soccer, I'd be happy to represent another country that I have lineage to.

They are trying to use this to get more kids to join ECNL instead of MLS Next

Accuracy in reporting matters

Accuracy? Duh, why wouldn't a competing league want to offer more to attract players. Thank you captain obvious.
