How do you use ChatGPT to make your life easier?

Anonymous
Oh for travel itineraries - it's the worst thing using GPT. You will miss all the truly cool stuff because it's going to put only mainstream tourist attractions. So in Santa Fe it was never pulling up the best place we saw which was Plaza Blanca. It was giving us only the big established stuff like Bandelier and we loved but I could put that on without GPTs help! You really need a wide knowledge based on experiences to do a travel itinerary based on your personality and interests - GPT can never replace a local to tell you where to go under the radar and the unique places you would love because AI isn't advanced enough to retain that kind of knowledge. Maybe one day but not yet. Kind of like self driving cars v what we have today where they can definitely support your driving to help make it easier but not replace a driver altogether. The prob is people are so lazy they don't want to use their brains for anything anymore!

To those pp who use it on stuff like planning your garden out - you can do this. It may take you like 30 min but I'm pretty sure without GPT you'd have found a way. If you can't write a note of congratulations or consolation as a literate adult you are an idiot. Using GPT proves you're lazy is all. I mean 98% of what you are using GPT for you don't need to use. It's so sad people are this lazy. As we get "smarter" I swear we are getting dumber. The fact people won't use their minds on easy things means we are all getting dumber.

Whether I buy some gardening books, google it, or go to a class - the outcome is the same. Someone else explains to me where to plant things and why. ChatGPT does the exact same thing, but in a few seconds. Googling each and every plant to see what conditions it needs is a complete waste of time.

People have limited time and brainpower. Freeing up some of that allows you to dedicate it elsewhere. It's not lazy, it's smart.

You're not using it correctly then.

No, I think I was just getting by fine without it. These so-called advances in technology are making life much, much worse in my opinion.

You wash your clothes by hand too?

This generation overuses ChatGPT, there’s going to be no more great orators, and their speeches are all going sound like bumbling idiots like a certainly someone yesterday in FL. We’re all turning into bots unfortunately

I find this really interesting - how would you give a prompt that includes different areas of your garden with different soil types, height needs, spacing and sun? I could definitely use help and my garden design skills have proven to be pretty terrible so far.

Yup! That's exactly what I did. I sent pictures of my garden, explained the sunlight and soil, and a list of the plants I had. Asked where I should plant everything. Took like 3 minutes.

I don't worry too much about specific prompts, I just talk like it's a person. "Hey I'm planting a garden and need to know where to put everything, here's pics, this side gets intense sun, this side gets shade" etc.

My results were just as good as when I used to buy gardening books and try to follow their plans - and often better, because I can ask for more in-depth explanations of why I should plant certain things where.

And always say thank you. Thank the robots. You wanna be on their good side when they take over.

ChatGPT does it WAY faster, like in 10 seconds.

I have used it to start me off when I'm stumped for content - and for when my kids were stuck with right a college essay - one of the obscure ones. I basically put in "child has these attributes, these activities, needs to write an essay answering this point - help"

I use it in place of Google Search a lot. I'm also a coder and while I do not use it to write code - too many bugs - I find it extremely helpful in solving weird coding problems especially when I'm integrating different technologies.

Chat GPT is the sum of the information on the Internet. The stupider you are, the more it can help you.

Did you not notice 2015-2022 before ChatGPT went public?

Some of them, sure. I still like to walk or bike some places. And write lists down on paper. And get together with people in person. Machines and technology have a place, but I don’t need them to replace every single bit of effort and thinking for me.

You use washing machine, an oven, a grill, a dishwasher, a car, a phone, a computer… Don’t act like you are little house on the Prairie.

Reality is you don’t know how to use ChatGPT.

You don’t even sound like you you have a job.

Congratulations on being able to write “our family is thinking of you and keeping us in your prayers” 3000 times over and over again.

And calling people who make the best use of their time, lazy is lazy.

My coworker says she uses it to write emails, but I can’t understand how it helps. Seems like more work to ask a robot how to write an email than just…writing it? Maybe a generational thing (and I’m only in my mid-30s).

I foster puppies and I used it to write their bios. Type age, breed, certain keywords and characteristics and bam, I’ve got my blurb written. Then I edit accordingly
