The beds are made by the Japanese company Airweave who had made them for the Tokyo Games and had received glowing reviews. So apparently, yes, they are comfortable. But some people aren't happy with anything, and if they hear "environmentally friendly cardboard", obviously they'll never be persuaded that it can be good. Also, there is a particular breed of poster who loves to absorb the most ridiculous fake news off social media and then disseminate it here. OP is clearly one of them. |
China built a beautiful stadium but displaced tons of poor people and it’s not sustainable. Using existing buildings is much better and highlights the culture of the host country. However I’m still pro hosting the Olympics in Greece in a permanent set up. |
| Part of the problem is there are too many events. Too many athletes. Some of these events are a freaking joke. |

1. The thing is the furniture needs to be easy to break down because Olympic Villages can't be used for anything other than the Olympics. - what would they do with 5,000 real beds after August? The people saying the beds are comfortable brought/got mattress pads
2. It is over 80 - yes they need portable AC or window AC units. Those can be sold at a discount to Parisians after August. 3. My understanding is they were not prepared for how much athletes eat and were running out of eggs and chicken the first few days but this has since been resolved. Also, French food is not good when mass produced - that's why the athletes enjoying food are the ones picking non-french food, like Asian food. |
Yes. So many. |
| Doesn't Paris have a massive bed bugs emergency now? Would not want to be in that city at all. It was so bad their national govt had to declare an emergency. |
Clearly you are young. There were complaints about the food and transportation in Atlanta. Bus drivers didn't know where they were going. The games were seen as over commercialized. There was the tragedy of a pipe bombing during the games on top of all that. |
You set OP straight they are scared to post now because you laid down the law! /s Why can't we criticize large works organizations, corporations, athletes, celebrities, etc.? It seems they are now not allowed to be questioned, but we are to call other internet posters stupid, ridiculous, etc. Seems like the oligarchs have turned us against each other to tell us to not watch out for them. | This happens every time, OP. |
|
it's a 2 week event no one cares...
|
This was my thought when I read the OP. Don't we hear the same complaint every Olympics? |
So...we can't talk about it now? |
| Olympics are waste of space. |
| The ac was a mistake. They were trying to set an energy efficiency positive example by pumping groundwater through the floors like a radiant system. They said it was supposed to keep rooms 10 degrees below ambient. But they didn’t use it as a heat sink for refrigeration systems like normal geothermal heat pump systems. It wouldn’t have used that much more electricity. They could’ve done that and kept the athletes comfortable, while still bragging about the green’ness of it. And it would have been an example people all over the world could have followed. Instead it’s a black eye. |

Are you there? I hear it's great actually and only a few are complaining but trying to get "likes'
