| Your boss has an unchecked ego. Id start planning an exit from the position - maybe a lateral move if you like the company. I’ve had bosses like this and while they didn’t use the exact words “my direct report” it was a lot of “me”, “my” and “I” statements. Like “I need you to perform for me ” and “my sales team” and “my mid Atlantic guy”. It’s always indicative of someone that’s only in it for themselves and sees everyone else as a tool for them to achieve their personal ambitions. Get away from these people. |
1. A support/servant leader doesn't act like that. 2. Why not talk about what the direct report DOES instead of how they relate to you? Sounds insecure. |

How about just their name and title? Who they report to is somewhat unimportant at first blush. |
