let me start by saying I am a totally non-adventurous camper...has anyone every been to the Jellystone campground out in Luray?

Sorry to hear that, ugh. Maybe we were lucky. We camped there for 3 days, and didn't have any problems with ticks. (thankfully!) I'll definitely keep an eye out for them the next time.


Are there places without ticks (serious question)? I always thought this was one of the perils of camping.


Ticks are seasonal, and you pick them up mostly in tall grass. If you spray your ankles with bug spray you should be okay. It always surprises me how much noise people make over ticks. Also Assateaugue is in Virginia.

Just came back from Deep Creek Lake State Park in Maryland and it was beautiful. About 3 hours from DC.
