| I second Mr. Big candy bars (rec'd by 01:45!) |
| All dressed chips. |
| Creamed honey. Ontario peaches (in Quebec, but not the States). |
Old Dutch chips!!! So good. The Cheddar Sour Cream Ruffled Old Dutch chip is the #1 best chip in the world. I guess you could always bring some trader joe's items to barter with. TJ's holds some cachet among Canadians--there were a lot of Canadian license plates in the parking lot of Trader's Joes in the bordertown where I used to live. |
Also Quebec strawberries--they are really, really good, super tiny and flavorful, and very hard to find in the States. Maybe the season is over already though. |

I order these from Amazon and love them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4I2I30/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They use vegetables to color the candy rather than dyes. |

Butter tarts
Coffee crisp chocolate bars Ketchup chips Hawkins Cheesies I know you said no bagels but man l do love a Montreal bagel. |
| Canadian Tire is like a super Walmart crossed with Dicks sporting goods. Some of the stores are way bigger than others though, for sure not all the same. I would skip it and hit Mountain Equipment co-op if you’re looking for outdoor gear. It’s more like REI |

Wanted to report back that we had way less shopping time than expected. We went to a Metro Plus store just outside Montreal and found it had somewhat limited junk food offerings. I did get a candy crisp and while good, not quite my thing. I got some Dairy Mill because I know it’s different than US Dairy Milk and that hit the spot. The KitKats were also so much better and I regret not getting more. Couldn’t find much more of the candy items on the list, sadly. I did see Smarties but I’ve had them before.
We had already had Montreal bagels and poutine which is why they weren’t on the list. We did get All Dressed chips and enjoyed trying them. We did also go to the giant orange hot dog stand because we needed a quick meal and thought our toddler would enjoy it. Also hit the spot in a greasy food way. I feel like there were some other things we tried but already can’t remember. We may make Montreal an annual visit from my parents’ vacation home so I’ll revisit this list in the future! |
