Who do you consider "highly educated"?

Highly educated doesn't even mean smart most of the time. It means you either have family money, or student loan debts.

Post of the Day.

As well as an indication of less workplace experience and accomplishment.

I have 3 masters degrees and a PhD. I guess I am highly educated but don't consider myself more well-informed than the average person. I mean I guess technically, I am more educated in that I have had more education but I guess I'm saying that it only really impacts a tiny sliver of my life.

PhD, MD, or other terminal degree. In my circle, 4 years of undergrad is nothing.

MD, or a PhD in hard science.

PhD in History. MS in hard science.

History PhDs make great dinner guests!

Anybody who has a breadth of knowledge or someone who is an expert in something.

Does not require degrees.

I think many chefs are extremely educated in food, culture, etc
Many musicians are very smart about music, communications, business, etc.

They don't have classic educations, but they are very educated.

My brother's a lawyer, so technically he is highly educated but I don't think he's educated because he is a lawyer, i think he's educated because he can tell you anything and about anything... he knows every type of music and the most obscure band, he knows about food and wine, he's travelled a lot, he can tell you score of almost every major sporting event in the past 25 years. He really needs to go on Jeopardy but he doesn't want to so he goes to the NY Times crossword competition... not a top winner but he's slow not unable to complete it.

I feel like I should add: I don’t consider highly educated to be a compliment either. Academia is a toxic mess.

Someone who is open-minded, analytical and has wide-ranging knowledge on a variety of topics is highly educated.

OP I'd say you were fair to middling, maybe moderately well educated. You only have a BA. Most "highly" educated people have a PhD.

The smart ones get out and go change the world, rather than staying on for a PhD.

While many PhD research topics are ground breaking, so many more are pedestrian research projects.

So the founder of Microsoft would not be highly educated.

Okay.
