Correct. The LTI and IB programs provide a bit of a school-within-a-school experience. But that being said, they will witness and be in the midst of some traumatizing and scary chaos. |
| Ain't no beatin' no Wheaton. Seriously tho, the DCC is great. Any of the schools are fine choices, especially if you're looking for a significant Hispanic population. Blair is enormous which means lots of choices, but also lots of competition for things like sports or theatre, and it's easy to get lost in the crowd. Northwood is very small which means somewhat fewer choices, but more opportunities to try new sports even if you're not the best at it. My (Hispanic) niece and nephew are recent Northwood grads and had a great experience. We are zoned for Wheaton in the DCC and have no plans to move (kids are in ES now). |
Wheaton is now as difficult to get into as Blair. If it is your homeschool, don't move. I have 2 kids in the Einstein IB program; they love their school. We love their theater and go to all the shows. |
Northwood students will be bused to the new Woodward building in Bethesda beginning this fall. |
Can you share more about what goes on at Kennedy? I'm a former MCPS teacher and don't have kids yet, but we bought in a neighborhood zoned for Kennedy. I'm hoping it will improve by the time we have a kid in HS, if we choose to stay in the neighborhood. It seems to have a really bad reputation, but haven't heard specifics? Would love to know. |
You might consider searching this forum or even looking for online copy of their student paper. |
