No snowboarding at Alta. Neighboring snowbird is challenging.

We'll be in Whistler instead.

OP here, I briefly looked at Canada - the lake louise area. Would prices/crowds be better up there instead of the US for that weekend? We wouldn't be able to use our epic passes, but when I thought rates looked better up there all around when I had previously looked it up.

Thanks, that's helpful to know.

Its not a terrible drive from SLC proper either.

Thanks, I will look it up.

Ikon pass pp here. Lake Louise is great, but much colder than Utah. Also, you said you had Epic passes. LL, Sunshine and Norquay are Ikon. If you want some nightlife, Banff is lovely but 45 minutes from LL. The area around LL has a few hotels and restaurants but not much else. There isn’t any lodging on the mountain

I would stick to your plan for PC, especially for a long weekend. PC is easy to get to from SLC. I recommend flying out of IAD on the 7:10 Delta flight and back on the 5:50 pm Delta flight (both are nonstop) to maximize skiing. You should be able to ski a half day when you arrive and a half day the day you leave.

We did that when we were there spring break We had a car so we weren’t at the mercy of a shuttle service. We like having a car, but Snowbird/Alta is more isolated than PC

Thanks for sharing your perspective (and flight options). I appreciate it.

Also no snowboarding allowed at Deer Valley.

Can you do Super Bowl weekend instead? Super Bowl Sunday is always my favorite skiing, especially if the game is on the east coast and I'm on the west coast.

Yep but VERY cold.

Cold weather is required for skiing (at least snow skiing). Utah in January could be cold, could be over 32. I recall last January was warmish?

I wouldn’t go to Park City because of crowds. Maybe Snowbasin but not sure that’s on Epic.

32 degrees isn't "VERY cold" unless you're from the tropics.

I think PPs point is that skiing is a cold weather sport. There is a poster that posts “it will be cold” on every ski thread. Well duh, that’s why we have ski pants, jackets, gloves and warm helmets.

In Utah? No, not necessarily. Not compared to many other ski destinations in North America.
