No one covered it up. In fact it was announced that it had happened. The folks have been convicted. And in light of that the court is mandating that this be rebid.

You're too sane and reasonable to be posting here.

But incorrect.
MCPS hid the names of Todd Watkins and Charles Ewald from the Circuit Court.

2 of the 3 (or 4) MCPS employees who reviewed the initial bids for the MCPS electric school bus contract have since been convicted of crimes including felony theft and misdemeanor misconduct in office in relation to a scheme to divert MCPS funds to an off the books account held by a subcontractor on the HET MCPS, LLC (Highland Electric) electric school bus proposal.

This is stealing from children - the next generation. Absolutely despicable. Whatever the consequences are for these people, they are not nearly harsh enough. We should have absolutely zero tolerance for corruption.

Someone needs to hold the BOE accountable as they ultimtely approve thse contracts.

That would be voters. Amazingly, voters in MoCo will vote for the same people over and over again even when they prove themselves to be inept and possibly corrupt.

MCPS covered it up. Read the Opinion. They hid the names of the MCPS reviewers from the court.

Wouldn't be the first time, imho.

Check out Montgomery County Circuit Court judges with links to MCPS. Apparently it's not required to recuse themselves from a case if a family member is employed.

The story made it into the Washington Post

Great but it doesn't state what the PP was claiming in the court opinion.

That's why I voted straight Apple Ballot which has NO incumbents!

The only people who lose out in mcps are the people that follow the rules and laws.

MCPS is the largest employer in the state. It should only be necessary for a judge to recuse themselves if their relative is in a department or school involved in a case. Why don't you say which judge has a family member that is concerning?

MCPS is not the largest employer in the state. Twice as many people work at Fort Meade.
