| I guess this could inflate weighted gpa for the time college applications happen |
All health is Honors nowadays |
Easy class but a pain. Get it done before senioritis kicks in. |
I feel like my kid will blow it off no matter when they take it. I’d rather have the B or even C on the senior year transcript rather than sophomore or junior year, no? So it doesn’t pull down GPA? All I can say is that my kids counselor did not require them to take it sophomore year — kid chose to replace it with an AP class. I’m not at all confident they will be able to fit it in next summer because they have a long planned summer camp during the second session and I think the only time we can take a family vacation is during the first session. I wish there was an independent study or asynchronous option but my understanding is that this is a remote class with attendance and cameras on required. Someone else suggested taking it DE at MC which might at least make for a class where they actually learn something. |
| One reason would be the content. Things they need to know sooner. But if they are up on all that stuff, I see no reason why they couldn’t take senior year. Even though our counselor would have grumbled. |
Sounds like excuses. They have an afternoon and evening sessions online. |
Kid gets home from work at 5 pm after working outside in the heat from 8 am. For CAP, Kid has 3 dense books to read, analyze and write about and is generally a slow worker. Maybe possible for your kid but not this one. |
| My DC will do health online over the summer as early and as fast as possible, so that they do not miss out on multiple electives that they want to take instead. |
| DD is just completing summer health session 1. Awful. Huge pile of busywork. Would not want to waste time on this during school year. |
No, the college will be looking at the increased rigor taken in the previous three years. They will know it is a requirement. |
| MC dual enrollment has asynchronous options for health 105 which meets the graduation credit for A and B. |
Yes, they will know its a requirement that could have been taken in 3 wks over the summer or online outside of school hours. |
It's too bad these politicians keep making laws that require students to take these awful classes that have almost 0 benefit. |
Yes, Health has no benefit.
Maybe if your kid is a senior when they are taking it. |
It is a legal requirement in an effort to combat drug use and teen pregnancy. |
