We are a donut hole family both prepared and planning to stretch to pay for college.

I am proud of all of the work DC did to get here. DC requested I help with interview prep, so I did (no murder board -- it was intriguing but not the right fit for this). We spent about 45-60 minutes talking interview panel logistics, and I helped DC add some details to their descriptions of senior year accomplishments.

What was the interview like?

OP with an update, now that the dust has settled. This was a private foundation award in the tens of thousands of dollars (will cover one year of DC’s tuition, room, and board). I don’t know exactly what the interview was like, as DC said it went well but didn’t elaborate.

Thanks for the kind words. This was a long year for a variety of reasons, and this is an amazing way to send DC off to school.

How did your DC find out about it? Was it specific to the school or to the major going to do? Did DC find it alone or through school? It is it related to your or other parent’s company where work? Thanks

DC’s high school sent scholarship lists, and I also found some lists online. I combed the lists for opportunities that actually applied to DC, and sorted scholarships into low, medium, and high priority.

I found this opportunity for DC and said this one was high priority (can’t remember if it was on a school list or a list I found elsewhere). They agreed and took it from there. It’s not school/major specific, and it’s not related to my work or my spouse’s work.
