tell me everything about the gw nicu

Anonymous
I have not been in the NICU at GW but at Children's and at Whc. Whc was only for a few days and I can't speak highly enough of the providers but it was a similar setup with all the babies in a small room. If the baby had been in the NICU longer, the lack of privacy and the logistics (having a minute together as a family, breastfeeding, just a comfortable chair after giving birth) would have really bothered me. At children's the private rooms made a huge difference, especially if you have to stay for longer and especially if you maybe want to sleep or sit for a few hours with your baby. If you anticipate a weeks long stay, it may be worth switching hospitals over that. If it's just a few days to a week, you'll be fine. In the private rooms we had a bed, a shower, space to store stuff, etc.
