GW IVF clinic - please tell me about your experience.

The new protocol involves giving ganerelix (sp?) during the supression phase of IVF (so before you start stims) for several days. When I was on the normal antagonist protocol I just took ganerelix during the stims phase to prevent ovulation. I can't remember the theory behind this new protocol - but the article I linked to explains it (although as a non-MD I could only half understand it). Might be worth checking out if you are a poor responder. Dr Dayal said that they are getting good results.

14.06, thanks! i am a poor responder and i will be soon starting the antagonist protocol.
will discuss this with my RE.
did the antagonist protocol work for you?

14:06 here -- the antagonist protocol did not work that well for me, but I was not technically a poor responder. I ended up with seven eggs, but since I was only 32 my RE at Shady Grove thought I might have been over-suppressed by the lupron so we gave the antagonist a shot. I did worse on the antagonist protocol so now we are trying lupron stop starting at the max dose of stims. But I think antagonist does work for a lot of women -- I just seem to be having bad luck. Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

We didn't have a particularly complicated case, but she explained all of our options very clearly, was very personable but professional, and was very patient with all of our many questions. The nurses are great too. I think the practice is small and the space is cramped, but on the flip side I felt like I got a lot of personal attention and the people there really knew me and actually cared about whether I got pregnant. I didn't find the U/S tech rude so much as not friendly. But she's definitely not freindly.

Also, I second what the PP poster said...your husband can come in. He just has to wait in the hall and then they call him in (or you can) when it's your turn.

I went to Dr. Dayal and also found her to be patient, explain our options clearly, and very practical. I too did not have a complicate case. As for the u/s tech, she can come across as unfriendly but she is very very good. And, due to a miscarriage, I have seen her every week for the past four weeks and she has been incredibly understanding and even walked out with me to the desk to help me make my next appointments.
