Wants to learn more about the subjects interesting her. Also, has the idea of a certain job which requires a master and potentially Ph.D.
So, it works out for her, I guess.

Honestly I've never asked. Rarely have any sort of philosophical discussions. I guess just the "next step" in life.

They want jobs and careers that will make it possible to not live paycheck to paycheck and save for retirement. But not for at least another four years!

I think it’s a fine answer, OP. I just hope it works out that way for her. (It didn’t for me.) But lifelong friends is never a bad goal to have.

"Because you guys expect me to."

Because that’s what you do

“Because I want to get a job I enjoy and college is something that will help me do that. And also because it’s an experience I want to have, and I’ll get to take cool classes about things I’m excited to learn about rather than just required courses. And I would like to attend at least one good party in my entire life.”

Asking "why" is asking for trouble. I'm not going in search of trouble. That would be dumb. I'm the adult. I know college graduates make more money. Fortunately we can afford it. They can do anything they want for a living -after- they get their 4 year college degree.

"I can't build anything and there's no factory jobs. I'm pretty useless without college"

What's wrong with her answer?

To move out of the house
