Easy-to-clean metal water bottles that don't leak or get moldy?

The straw is plastic right?

Anything plastic shouldn’t go in the dishwasher. Ever.

There aren’t that many options for no plastic water bottles especially leak-proof ones.

I have had luck with Pura Kiki bottles, no straw and they drink out of the top.

Why metal?

I like Simply Modern (and liked Pura Kiki for smaller kids) but you can't beat a 32 oz Nalgene. I stick a silicone straw inside the wide mouth style.

Agree that Nalgene are the best for simplicity and be8ng lightweight to carry around all day.

If set on metal, Hydroflask with the regular top or Klean Kanteen (lower price) with the loop cap

I like the takeya bottles, which are similar to hydro flask.

They do have a straw but it’s hard plastic not rubber and has no rubber parts either. We’ve had ours over a year and I wash them out once a week in the dishwasher, and the straw with a brush once a week. The mouthpiece part I rinse nightly.

We like Owalas, but you know they have a rubber part that you’re supposed to peel out of the top and clean regularly?

Umm no.. I didn’t. Oops. Well we’re still alive lol.

Me and my kids have the Coleman Freeflow. They take a ton of abuse, are put in the dishwasher and do not leak. The kids have the 24 oz ones and I have the 40 oz ones. They’re heavy though, because they’re insulated thermoses rather than just water bottles. Way cheaper than Zojirushi and work just as well in terms of hot/cold retention.

Target used to carry AWESOME water bottles that can go in the dishwasher, but I’m not seeing them on the website.

We've been using Simple Modern straw bottles for years and have never had a mold issue. How often do you wash them? Also, do you allow them to fully dry before using them again? We have maybe three sets each which allows for washing and drying fully.

We just bought Owala for the kids, but they are brand new.

Wait, do you hand wash everything you own that is plastic (or not own any plastic)? Tell us more. I don't use plastic storage containers, I don't put plastic in the microwave, but we do have plastic things and I put them on the top rack to wash. We don't use heat in the dishwasher, no melt risk. Why won't you put any plastic in the dishwasher.

Per manufacturer website, they need daily cleaning. And their lifetime warranty excludes almost anything other than “arrived damaged” and was never used.

OP, do you want one with a screw cap or a spout to drink from? Insulated or not? If insulated, any of the screw tops are easy to clean - yeti, hydroflask. My favorite to drink from is the camelbak chute. It has a lid that has a drinking spout with minimal parts. I put the tops in the dishwasher and hand wash the bottle. I like the drinking spout because it’s much easier to drink quickly from. No leaks, but like every other bottle, you have to seat the lid correctly and not crookedly. And if you ever want a plastic bpa free one, the camelbak reign bottles are great for sports practices.

Owallas are great. You can also buy replacement lids.
