Accept reimbursement for a trip

My AC's fiancee's wealthy parents accepted reimbursement for a European trip. My AC works, fiancee is a grad student. They did pay for their AC and his sisters.

Only if it made them feel better to pay their own way. Some people are like that.

If you're retired and living on a fixed income, and they know that, and you said prior to the trip that you'll pay for XYZ and they'll be expected to cover ABC, then yes.

This. Totally would depend for me. (Of course I hope I will be in a well off financial situation where it would be NBD to cover in which case I would not accept.)

Well, have her consider the long game- marrying into a wealthy family is sure to come with some perks somewhere down the line…

She is the least materialistic person I know so this isn't something she would care about. I was surprised as would never consider paying for a kid but not their spouse even though I'm less affluent.
