Exactly what it sounds like. The meat is tough and hard, almost crunchy. It is vile.

Why did you keep eating it?
One taste and should have stopped.

Ew I would rather starve than eat a costco rotisserie chicken. So gross.

THANK YOU. Can we get to the bottom of this? What are the white striations? How can we end this abomination?

I don’t know why the striations are related, but the chicken is woody in chickens that have been bred to grow unusually fast/large. It has something to do with the muscles in the chicken breast. I will say that almost all of our woody breasts have been from Giant.

Giant and Safeway have the worst meat. I won't even go into TJ, Aldi's or Lidil so no idea there as well.

i get it for mt dog, cheap meat and he enjoys it, mix it with dog food, only 1-2 month as too much salt though

Because once they started to eat, they had to finish.

Rich guy expression… when you go looking for a bargain, you end up buying a bargain.

Quality costs.

Anonymous wrote:Ugh, what a waste of $5. This was the worst chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It’s so tough and woody, I can’t even tear the white meat from the bird. I may never eat chicken again.

I had one last week that was tender and delicious, did I just get a frankem roided out broiler?

I want to return it, but I know that’s ridiculous and annoying. But the lingering texture … blurg.

Usually they’re undercooked and still bloody inside. I stopped buying them long ago. I still see folks snatching them up. Take it back. Last I was in the return line someone was (attempting to) return a 12 year old engagement ring in a box with no receipt. No one at customer service flinched.

Not OP, but Costco rotisserie is usually pretty good. It’s $5 because it’s a loss leader that gets people in the stores.

No it’s not. It’s highly filed w saline solution and is one among a million chickens.

Who said I did? I just described the texture, I didn’t say I ate an entire woody chicken through tears.

One of the Costco organic whole chickens that we bought and cooked at home was woody a couple years ago. We haven't bought a whole chicken from there since, even though I know it's not exclusively a Costco issue. It is really gross.

We get our chicken at Lidl and have never had woody chicken from there. Any time we get woody chicken, it’s been from Giant.

PP knows the name of their chicken and the farm where it was raised.
