I think reverse osmosis removes the most contaminants of any process. I do not know if it removes pharma, and the folks (scientists/docs) I talked to were also unsure -- there has been v little research on pharma in water and it's a really broad category. I asked this very question - the answer was: it depends on what pharma are in the water, and in what concentration (re: whether it could be removed by any process and whether it's safe). Sounded like a big "jury's still out" altho of course I understand wanting to go with safety for our kids over not wasting water.
