16U travel hockey- $10,000 (inclusive of travel costs)
15U club baseball- $2,500 Surprised by how much we had to chip in for school sports at their private high school (about $300 - $400) I miss the days of rec sports that were $150-$200 per season |

I have two kids and the costs of their sports stayed about the same when we moved from manhattan, but I am pretty sure we would be at least double the cost by now had we stayed in ny.
nyc - downtown Manhattan 8 year old boy club soccer, club swim $6000 including fees, travel for tri state soccer games (no overnights) and swim meets (only one that required an overnight stay and was driveable), gear (one time for swim, two year cycle for soccer), Uber/sitter fees to get everyone to practice. 11 year old boy Rec soccer, club swim and taekwondo $6800 including fees, travel for meets, gear (one time for swim, Uber/sitter fees to get everyone to practice, belt test fees. Currently we are in a smaller city out west 11 year old boy Club soccer and club swim $6k including fees, travel for multiple soccer tournaments requiring overnights/flights, travel for multiple swim meets requiring flights/overnights. 14 year old boy Club swim and rowing $8k for fees and multiple meets and regattas requiring flights/overnights. Our Uber/sitter fees were astronomical in ny. We would pay $50 in Uber fees to get one kid to swim practice twice a week and an additional $50 for the sitter. So we were blowing through $200 a week to get one kid to two practices on the days that I was taking the younger one to soccer. It was crazy. |

17u travel baseball. Plays for a team with kids from all over the East Coast.
$4k for team fees, $2k for training and $5k for travel to GA mainly. Previous years, the travel was only like $1k, but this is the big recruiting year and all the college coaches swarm GA. |
| For my Tier 1 playing hockey player, including travel, the costs started at about $15K per year, and grew to about $20K by the time he finished HS. We did not spend much on private coaching, however. |

10 year old in club winter swim (regional competitions that are mostly day trips, 1 or 2 driving trips that require 1 night hotel), $3000, summer swim ($150), rec gymnastics for spring and fall ($600), and once a week group tennis lessons for fall and spring ($1200), summer tennis camp ($900). About $6000 per year.
8 year old in rec winter swim ($400), summer swim ($150), rec gymnastics for spring and fall ($600), and once a week group tennis lessons for fall and spring ($1000), horseback riding camp in summer ($1000). About $3200 per year. |
| Club soccer, boy travel in-state only, probably ~$10k with club fees, training, and camps. Went up dramatically at u13 from ~$2k a year. |
| Basketball. 15 year old girl, eybl/3SSB/UAA team. $0 for team fees, but about 5k in travel expenses and 1k in training |
| Maybe travel pickleball is a cheaper way to go. |
| Competitive squash for a 14 year old: about $30K / year which includes coaching and travel costs. |
What a joke |
Just remember that the Ivy league squash teams are at least 50% international students from Pakistan, India, etc. where squash is a very popular sport and those kids are the best in the world. I think people don't appreciate that some of these niche sports are dominated by international competition. |
