Whatever happened with APS cotton game?

Wouldn't that have shown up in budget docs somewhere? It's been over a year.

I doubt the family saw more than $0. If the family wasn't even a resident of Arlington, all the defendants would have to do is prove it in court. There's a reason why the NAACP isn't saying anything more and all of the outrage went away. They could have milked it for years.

They got paid out.

Where’s the AEM Budget detective when we need him?

a few years from now some new elementary school teacher is going to do a craft with cotton balls and laugh hysterically when her older co workers look at them with a horrified face and announce that's racist!

How much?

Someone keeps saying that but there’s no proof. It’s nowhere on board docs. I don’t think it happened

I don’t think so. Even if the amount weren’t disclosed, the lawyers would have announced a settlement was reached between the parties. And they were hungry for media attention. Fairfax posted about his demand for $10 million (via letter not an actual lawsuit). Then we didn’t hear a peep because nothing more came of it. Was an absurd claim for money with no legal basis.

You didn’t hear a peep because that was part of the settlement

You aren’t a lawyer. And you keep saying this. Governments don’t settle and keep it quiet. That’s something companies do but not governments with taxpayer money. Arlington does not have some stash of hush money from which they can secretly pay out vast $. You are 100% wrong.

Typically it’s the terms of the settlement that are confidential, not the existence of the settlement itself, especially when one of the parties is a public entity funded exclusively by tax dollars. The public is presumably entitled to know if there is or is not a $10 million liability hanging over the heads of APS.

Um, I think the family is totally nuts which means either you are a lunatic as well or you believe a pathological liar. Both bad signs.

Anyway, if they got $10m or whatever your claimed number is why are they still hanging out with you in some apartment over by Gunston? We’ve got some nice properties here in Arlington that she hasn’t purchased with her big winnings.

Truth be told they got nada. And posters on here have explained repeatedly why that is the more likely scenario — no word from the lawyers, no disclosure of $ by the County, the fact that it’s public taxpayer dollars. Etc. I believe them and not your random “I know them” post without any proof or supporting detail.
