Colleges with Great Admin!

Workday is an HR software. Why would that be an issue for a student?

Each school has its own culture. Look for one with well designed websites, up to date info, modern technology, and whether they have high donation rates.

Top liberal arts colleges are great at this.

But given the state of the endowment, their poorly maintained facilities, and previous student reports, you can't possibly be surprised.

Georgetown feels a bit like a dinosaur in a modern age. They rely too much on their past.

Indiana U runs very smoothly.

Georgetown parent here - curious what have you been trying to inquire about?

I will say it sounds like housing issues at Georgetown are poorly managed. Condition of dorms, mold, responses to issues - and even room selection. For example, they scheduled room selection time slots for rising freshman on the same day as their course registration for sophomore fall. So MANY found themselves with the same time slot to log in for the competitive time-sensitive processes of choosing a room and for getting courses. That train wreck seems like something that was easy to avoid....

UChicago has been great. Whenever DD has had a question, it’s been answered quickly.

They also sent out a summer checklist with deadlines for the incoming students. A simple thing, but it helped DD self-manage and not miss any deadlines.

Workday might've started in HR, but it's been slowly moving into the higher education market (entire student lifecycle) for the past 10 years or so. I think many schools are looking at it as a replacement for aging PeopleSoft/Oracle systems.

I've been so impressed with all aspects of William and Mary. Admissions, financial aid, heath center, study abroad office have all been very responsive. And the programming they do there for the students (orientation and fun things during the year) is way better than anything I experienced when I attended a SLAC in the 90s.

I get that no system will be perfect, but I can’t imagine teenagers navigating workday. It’s so bad.

My experience with UVA admin has been great so far. Emails are answered very quickly.

This is all really great feedback. PP who talked about the cheat sheet of deadlines- attention to detail is important to us too!

Student finished first year at UMD. Had no need to contact administration. Does health center count? Visited a couple of times with no issue. I don't get the use of the exclamation point in the thread title.
