10. If DC could get 7 out of 10 for this assignment, his grade could be lift from B+ to A-

I don't understand why some teachers will not changed a 89.40 to A-.
Because that is in the B+ range. We have been over that discussion before on DCUM. There have to be grade ranges. Everything just can’t be rounded up in the final grade calculation.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, this happened to my high schooler with an AP class DBQ in-class assignment. Her computer wasn’t cooperating with College Board so she was 1 of 2 kids who had to hand write it.

It was given a 0 and then marked as not turned in. My daughter said other kids asked her why she was hand writing it so clearly she was seen completing the assignment. She emailed the teacher to ask if she could meet re: the 0 and get feedback on why it was given that score (all the while freaking out).

Turns out the teacher had accidentally stapled the grading rubric on top of her paper; the email made her investigate and she found the assignment which was then properly graded.
That sounds like an accident. Then the teacher did correct it. Teachers are human. It was one oddball test. Stuff can happen.

You need an 89.5 to round to a 90. You also need a 92.5 to round to a 93.
Not necessarily. They might have already rounded to get to the 89.5. Or, already rounded to get to the 92.5. There isn’t a second rounding. You guys really need to see how rough it can be to perform end grades. And, then everyone complains.

because the teacher desires a certain overall class grade distribution. Few exceptions will be made.

Last Day of classes are today. ALL of the sudden...teacher enters 3 ZERO's for 3 separate quiz grades. And says kid did not take them. Kid took them and can see the grades in the system(Schoology) on the computer. Now kid has to track down teacher. This is a good student, no late assignments etc, good grades all year and the teacher just throws zero's into SIS doesn't question it. Love the last minute stuff...
