I doubt very much that processing college apps is a big money maker for a university. They may want to drive app numbers, but its not for the cash, its to increase perceived demand to hold pricing on tuition. If a lot of people want something, Americans just assume it MUST be great. But then again, a lot of people bought Hanson and Hootie and the Blowfish records too, soooo….call me skeptical of the authority of the marketplace. |
Agree, people pay big money for T-Swift, Niki Minaj, and Cardi B even though they're talentless hacks. |
No way. Jupiter State has much better CS. |
I’m sure their processing system is fairly automated to manage that volume of applicants. Almost 100,000 applications at $75 a pop— that’s nearly $7 million in revenue. |
Jupiter State cannot compete with University of Uranus but JS is indeed better than NEU. |
It’s annual operating budget is $1.5B. $7M is less than one-half of 1%. App fees are not a driving force for its TO decisions. |
as long as California remains test blind, there will always be quality T50 schools staying TO. California accounts for > 10% of the nation’s graduating senior class |
NEU is not in the Top 50. |
Ok Top 60 |
Unimpressive. Handpick kids with test scores in the minority. Artificially lowers acceptance rate. Meanwhile, class rank stats are very very meh for the entering class. It basically means if it was not test optional, the freshman stats would be mediocre. |
but that is changing as we speak. It is being discussed by the Regents. They are embarrassed (as they should be) and are trying to figure out a PR way to get out of the mess they are in |
Seriously, NEU troll/parents. WE don't care! you are hurting your kid with the thousands of posts about NEU here! Everyone with a brain knows what you are posting isn't true and that the school is a commuter school trying to market itself (at the expense of paying students) to pull itself up out of the rankings. . There is nothing good about NEU - especially with the new alternative false start offerings not on campus. |
Why? Isn’t it the prerogative of a university system to decide the types of students it educates? |
Because they want a low admissions rate. |
Does anyone care? |
