Montessori School of Arlington -REVIEWS NEEDED

Montessori should be limited to preschool in APS. That’s where it actually serves underrepresented students. Beyond that, it is subsidized private school for weirdly cultish parents. Monique o Grady was their big champion. Time to shut them down.

+1
I'd support that.

MPSA is going to move into a bigger renovated space in a few years with all elementary school and middle school in one place. That’s going to be huge advantage for families at MPSA. Your kid can go to one of the overcrowded middle schools or they can stay at a small elementary and middle school dedicated to Montessori.

To whom are you directing your comment? Current MPSA students or students entering kindergarten?

I don't feel like anyone has actually answered OPs question about the school. Any current/former parents want to share opinions?

To the OP. They should get in now. Their kid will have a new building by the time middle school rolls around.

What is Montessori like for middle school? Are kids prepared well for high school?

OP you said your kid is not having a great experience in their current private, which leads me to assume they are not starting in K. It can be difficult to start later. Also good to know is that your child will be with the same students and teachers for multiple years, that can be great or bad depending on the cohort.

Well, that is the most important factor in effective education, for sure.

We are coming from years of private school experiences ($ doesn't buy you a way out of the current state of education in this area when you don't want to be at the $40K and above pricetag) but youngest child doesn't have a great crop of students at her current private school. She needs a wider pool of kiddos. And our neighborhood APS school is the absolute pits.

Thanks for any insights!

Private doesn't work for you. Your neighborhood public school doesn't work for you. Perhaps you should try homeschooling for a better crop of peers.

yes, they rival Nottingham ES, ATS supporters, and HBW-ers. They just go under the radar a bit more and wrap it all up in the serving the underprivileged kids blanket.

There isn't anything under the radar about them

OP there is a parent group for the school on Facebook. You should join and ask your question there.
