Likelihood of RIF

I can’t imagine they will actually end up rifing. They will have enough voluntary resignations and retirements to cover. People will get shuffled though, which will lead to more resignations. So even if they put people on a layoff list, my bet is they will recall them once the involuntary transfers resign.

Do t let them bully you to resign. Let them non renew you so you get you UI benefits.

Most likely if you teach a canceled rare elective that is not taught much in other schools.

Based on seniority, not what content you teach.

Yes. It’s outlined in the contract the steps on how they approach RIF. Not related to any content taught.

This is state’s fault - blame Blueprint for Maryland. Free preschool is an expensive give away to young Democratic families with kids. I have 2 more years until I can leave the State. Cue the ‘good riddance’ DCUM posters.

It’s the state’s fault that the county didn’t give MCPS 100% of its requested budget?

Even 100% wouldn’t cover everything students and teachers need. Council is not the enemy here, it’s the bloat of contractual services and positions like the ones McKnight created in Central Office sucking up money from schools.
