Doctor husband

My younger brother is a neurosurgeon and his salary is around 800k/year while my DH is the CFO of a fortune 100 company, and his salary is 5M/year not including bonus and stock options. My brother doesn’t have much left over after paying alimony and child support. YMMV.

Most doctors I know are married to other doctors. -Doctor

I live in Langley neighborhood and most doctors are married to EVPs and lawyers/lobbyists who make much more $$$ than doctors. My own mother is an ophthalmologist and my father owns a 50M government contractor 8A company.

These guys get a lot of attention from nurses, so keep an eye on the marriage.

Wtf. The slutty nurse stereotype is old and insulting.

But it’s true.

Not in my hospital. There have been affairs and sleeping around between nurses, aides, PT/hospitalists and hospitalists/hospitalists but for the most part, surgeons are left alone. Most OR staff want nothing to do with the surgeons because they know all their unappealing characteristics. Most floor staffing doesn't have a ton of dealing with the surgeons themselves as a lot is handled by PAs. And there are enough ahole surgeons that most nurses have an automatic distaste for them. My job in the hospital takes me around to all the units and I get to learn a TON of gossip, so I'm pretty certain in my post.

Nailed it

not where i live. I am not a nurse but am married to a doctor. I am personal friends with about 25 doctors. none of them are married to RNs. Mostly to other doctors, and a few to non medical people (Computer guy, lawyer, random businessman). literally none of them are married to RNs.

Yes, agree.

He makes a lot of money now but I was a FT working single parent for 15 years and his ego and perfectionism are something else. If you enjoy hearing someone talk almost exclusively about themselves and their needs in the little time you see them, while you do literally everything besides his job and yet are constantly made to feel like an inferior succubus who should be more grateful, go for it.

Wow. You go girl. As Ivana Trump said in the First Wives Club: “Don’t get mad, get everything.” I hope you do…

Interesting. I am a lawyer married to a doctor and most of his colleagues are married to non-doctors. That said, I can think of a few doctor-doctor couples, but literally zero doctor-RN couples.

Both my siblings are doctors married to doctors. My BIL is a doctor married to a RN. Cousin is a doctor married to a RN.
My father is a doctor married to a SAHM.

Honestly, it really could go any which way. Some MDs meet in med school - just like lawyers do. Others meet at the hospital or in other locations. I mean, any industry could have the same dating set up.

I think it’s funny how OP never mentioned anything about affairs but all of you feel the need to chime in about it. Jealous! She asked about the hours….

Yeah, they totally trick surgeons into having sex with them.

Just stop.

I think you are operating from a dated mindset (when almost all doctors were men).
