My kid is playing a sport at an Ivy and got zero off tuition, zero $. We don't qualify for aid.

But they overlook what what otherwise be an non-competitive application so I wouldn't really complain.

Well…even if your kid went to a school that gave athletic scholarships, the vast majority of walk ons wouldn’t get any $$$$s either.

Why would you ever even remotely expect $$&s if not recruited?

Some 3rd party websites alldge the Columbia is somehow D1 in track and offers scholarships. I wouldn't rely on them

Columbia is quite competitive in track and has had a number of sub 4 minute milers and D1 All Americans on the women’s side. I knew the coach there for years and she definitely had D1 achievements and indeed later ran into trouble for creating an eating disorder environment. So without question Columbia is D1 in track and XC. What they don’t do is give athletic scholarships, at any time or anywhere. My rival from Georgetown - a 3:50 miler in 1981 - has a son who attended Columbia. Johnny Gregorek has run a 3:48 mile and is a world championships participant. The Ivies have great athletes, but not necessarily depth like one sees with Florida or LSU.

The Ivies are very competitive in track. The NCAA D1 XC winner is a Harvard runner from Georgia. The winner of that race is generally among the top 20 in the world. He is a guy that can withstand 120 mile weeks, and is a 13 minute 5k guy - three 4:10 miles back to back. But again, no scholarships. Harvard’s coach used to coach at GMU, and he has a NCAA winner on the women’s side too.
