is it just me or isn't the number of insanely loud muscle and tuner cars on the road out of control in the DMV?

This seems like such an EASY FIX, every time your car gets inspected FAIL them for loud exhaust AND enforce the laws here in VA. They just don't want to do either. I don't get it.

The number is actually far diminished from probably a couple decades ago during the height of tuner-car popularity, which coincided with the first couple movies in the “Fast and Furious” series.

It might seem like a lot now - but only because you were probably 10 years old when they really popular, and weren’t aware of them.

You're wrong and you know you're wrong.

There is one car in my neighborhood that sounds like gun shots. I actually called the cops when I heard it one night. A few days later the car drove by in front of me. No idea why someone would to that to their car

I actually think that’s part of the problem—we did away with annual vehicle inspections. So once it’s inspected at the transfer you’re good as long as you don’t re-register it. We’d all have to endure annual inspections to catch all the illegal modifications.

This thread makes me want to get a loud exhaust. Had no idea it was so easy to get under busybody people’s skins.

Get a life, loser.

It's one thing when it is just one car with loud exhaust. It's another when it is thousands of cars in the area with nonstop 24/7 noise pollution for miles. It also ruins the environment and the noctural patterns of many animals.

Your are the quintessential crass American with the completely selfish me first attitude that is at the core of all that is wrong in this country. You are a lowlife POS subjecting thousands of other people to noise torture.

Hopefully one day someone can find where you live and run a gas powered leaf blower nonstop 24/7 right outside your window, or you crash in a fiery wreck driving like an idiot in your cheap car because you can't afford a real performance vehicle. Everyone laughs at you in your civic of dodge muscle car, because you couldn't afford a Porsche or a Lambo.

There was a study recently that showed people who like loud cars score higher on measures of sociopathy and sadism. Would you say that describes you?

Well that escalated quickly.

I live in VA, and whenever I see them, they always have maryland tags and are driving like maniacs.

The MD gov. just had to sign a bill outlawing street/drag racing because it has become such a pervasive problem. So you're wrong.

Participating in a racing or speed contest on public roads in MD has been unlawful for at least 50 years.

The bill in question is from this year and would strengthen penalties.

You obviously missed the 80s.

The people that buy or modify their cars are often super super low class. They tear up the the roads on highways and streets going 30, 40, 50 mph over the speed limits every single day and make sure the entire DMV can hear them from miles away. These dbags are literally terrorists, so why don't we treat them as such for their illegal cars and illegal driving?

If anyone can hear your car from a mile away, it should be immediately impounded and crushed. The fact that no local governments in the area do little to nothing about it has allowed the number of drivers with their stupid and illegal cars to skyrocket in abundance and has allowed for all sorts of drag racing and meetups that endanger or disturb everyone.

Enough is enough already.

Noise is part of life in the city. If you are unhappy, go live in far out in the exurb where there are no cars.

I must be an outlier. I rarely hear cars that are loud like that.

Hearing car from miles away due to illegal mods is not a part of city life. I've been to mega cities like Tokyo. They do not have ridiculously loud cars that you can hear for miles tearing up the streets every single day while going 40 mph over the speed limit.

You should get a better job so that you can afford a real performance car rather than your crappy civic with a muffler. Lol.
