| My guess is if you are still friends with these people and you're interested you could reach out now to see if you could start the process. |
| Sigh. This is what happens when those who haven’t been tapped for a society or punched for a final club are let loose upon proper society. |
| My cousin is a member at Congressional. He has to spend a certain amount per month or per year on buying food and alcohol there or he just loses the money. That's probably what was going on. |
Secretly rolled your eyes? Had fun at the expense of silly people? You’re a jerk, and such a fake. Glad you re not at our country club. |
|
There are people on earth eating dirt and grass for supper, & you’re sweating over maybe showing a little too much leg on the dance floor at a golf club years ago—when you don’t play golf & couldn’t afford it anyway?
Why don’t you just fret over blowing your chance to marry Tom Brady despite having lived in the same time zone as he has for the past 25 years? |

Since OP mentioned she is in therapy, I think this is just an example of how therapy can lead one to look back at various experiences and explore them for meanings and implications that didn't register at the time. Nothing wrong with that.
And sometimes wondering about a past experience come up just by happenstance. Nothing wrong with that either. No need for mean remarks. |
But she’s so poor… |
Mean remarks? Like rolling your eyes at "silly" people? Acting like a country club is a zoo and you're better than everyone there? Guess what. She doesn't even come close. Which is why she's not a member. |
This is hilarious! Yes I look at marriage dates of famous people and think -- oh I was hot and single in 2000 when he got married! Where was I? Too bad we didn't cross paths! Maybe I should post on here like OP and we can all have shared chagrin. |
+1. And, last I checked, there was a ten year wait to join. Probably longer now. And not to worry - with your eye-rolling and judgmental attitude, I'msure they sensed you didnt want to be invited. Move along. BTW you would also have to arrange sponsors and with this post you've alienated them all |
This. A friend at a "lesser" club would invite us to dinner towards the end of the month but on doing so would mention this! Oh we're invited just because you have dollars you need to spend? Made me feel like sh&t. |
+1. Instead of therapy, she needs go to church and/or temple and learn some humility. The virtue signalling leaps out of her post. |
+1. At Burning Tree you don't even ask. They ask you. Same with our current club |
| You are ruminating over this event STILL? How sad. |
I don’t think you understand what virtual signaling means. |
