Have you already done the Caribbean and Europe? The Mediterranean?

I’d country hop in Europe/Med if you haven’t already hit those spots.

A safari seems fun for like a day or two, then I would be bored.

What about Australia and New Zealand if you want a mix of outdoorsy with animals?

Australia and NZ would be awesome, but remember their seasons are the reverse of ours, so if you go in our summer, it would be winter there.

for a 3 to 4 week? Way too long just for one tiny island unless all you want to do is veg out on the beach for the most part.

This is what I was going to say. My teens would prefer two shorter vacations more spread out to two different types of locals, like Europe for one and beach for another.

haha.. we usually go for 3 weeks when we go abroad, and my 18 yr old DC said something like.. "we go for an absurdly long time". They appreciate that we take them on international trips, but yea, I think they'd rather we didn't go for that long. Unfortunately, my spouse and I don't think it's worth going that far for only 2 weeks.

Suffice it to say that after this summer (another 3 week long international trip), we will no longer be taking them on long trips like that, in part because of scheduling conflicts.

We are spending 3 weeks in just one of those countries and will be hitting a few cities there. I'm planning to back sans kids, for much longer, and then doing multiple countries.

Fly to Dubai and stay a few days
Then fly to the Maldives (4 hours) for a week (especially if your daughters love beaches, snorkeling, marine life, etc.)
Then fly to East Africa (Kenya/Tanzania) for a safari. Then back to the US.

You might have to fly back to Dubai to get from the Maldives to your safari.

Coming on here to say this.

Agree!

I'd go to Japan for 3 weeks, then 1 week in Hawaii or some other island on the way back.

Am I right to think that you have t really traveled a lot before? With girls that age, I might do something like —
Fly into Paris and a few days there
Travel south and do beach in south of France and/or a few days in Provence/avignkn
Travel to Florence and get a house in countryside
Then if you didn’t do beach in France, go to beach in Elba or calri (Elba cheaper)
Go to Rome before flying out
So you’d get two of the world greatest cities, some beautiful historic/nature setting, some great shopping, and a beach.

One problem with planning ahead if that your 11 year old might have totally different tastes at 13.

Do your kids want to be away from their friends for 3 weeks?

I would probably take my kids to Europe, they haven’t been yet. But definitely planning downtime instead of go go go

Agree with this. Even as an adult, I start getting home sick after about 9 days.

She would spend most of her budget on flights...

So many possibilities!!!

Have you spent time in Europe? You could base yourself in 3 or 4 locations. Maybe a week in a major city, a week in an outdoor focused area and a week near a beach?

Personally, with your budget, id break it into 2 trips. I’d go to Costa Rica for trip 1. And them somewhere in Europe for trip 2. Or maybe Alaska?
